I don't think he was in a relationship and that's the outcome of his attitude. In the early chapters, we could see the guy hooking up with a buff dude and was determined to find another guy with the same body type. It probably got over his head and since he couldn't get the charcoal guy, he thought it was ok to harass charcoal guy. He's just out for sex with buff dudes :'3
