That is not memory of his past life.
That was the desk of the head of the family where he received his “correction” from the hand of his brother while the head “educated” him on his value as a sacrifice. Then we see his bedroom where he slept with his brothers and sisters. You can see it on the first chapter where Jaheon is handpicked by Lord Mugo. And the cabinet was a furniture belonging to the doctor that examined him to see if he was still a virgin.
Jaheon grew up in a very traditional Korean household. If it was his past life, you wouldn’t have an actual armchair and a western desk as an office seating. Those are modern furniture in Korean culture that came with Western colonialism. If it was his past life, it would have been a floor desk with a cushion to seat on. It look like a feudal Korean interior design but it is just modern classical design.
Also in his past life, Jaheon was a low born (you can see it at his cloth). He wouldn’t have experienced nor lived in rooms with such furniture. Yes he could have been brought in those rooms for let’s say being assaulted or condemned but not in the office. Korea was really strict about those things. That is why you had outdoor gathering or a “throne” room. So even if past Jaheon had seen inside of a lord house when he was sentenced to death, it wouldn’t have been an office. Which didn’t look like that anyway at that time.
So not a past life. Just his actual life. He has PTSD from all the brainwashing and abuse he received as a child to become a sacrifice. And the slap just brought all back. That is why he was in state of chock.
You also got to remember, Jaheon spent his entire life convincing himself he would be the perfect sacrifice. His core belief and being is built around it. He had no other reason to live. And it resulted in a total failure. So right now he is living a paradigm shift because his identity is being redefined which put him in a very unstable mental state.
The slap he received just triggered all this insecurity and fear that he failed would be discovered. Reason why the first thing he sees is the head’s office, the place he hated the most and received all his abuse. Then his room where his fate was decided but also where his siblings he wants to protect resided too. Then the doctor that caused him a ferry humiliation. All his life he told himself this was normal. This was right. While it wasn’t but his mind is still trying to convince itself that it is still the case.
So of course that put him in a state of terror.
Home boy is about to have a breakdown once he wakes up.
That fatso slapped him into memories of a past life. Mc was so scared. Poor baby. The barrier must have had something to do for MC to have those flashbacks.
I just knew those little white things were not so innocent. Maybe they're ghouls or something. They took the form of centipedes so they reminded me of the omukades in Inuyasha lol
So, that's how it looks like when all three Mugos possess the body at the same time. I guess glasses mugo spoke first because he's the only one who calls MC a 'child' but the three of them gave the execution order and it was definitely jerk mugo who took him home. At least for the look in his eyes but it could be the three of them.
I didn't expect to MC to be kidnapped so soon lol glad he got rescue so fast too. Thanks to those gummies and the god well but probably mugo would have found out because of the barrier and mc crossing it and leaving.
Good chapter.
