why do girls like stories about a girl being a concubine in the Middle East? like....what is appealing about it? I'm not hating, I'm just genuinely dumbfounded that this is a thing.

Because its a foreign love story which is facinating and usually the prince picks the main character over the other women and that's always romantic

Sorry fo the long note but I hoped It helped a little (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

Well, irl If you are a girl, then you definitely don't want to be a citizen of a country that neglect women rights and on top of that be the one of the many females that are owned by the one male. (/TДT)/
    ...but...
As a story concept, a situation like this is quite alluring, I would say.
Most of girls just loves a very cliched story like this one because, the idea of begin one of many but still be the most special and important to a guy is just sweet. Mishe for exaple is one of the 30 concubines, but to prince Kallum, It's looks like she is the only one. It is unrealistic but everybody want to be special to somebody, So why not! Dreaming don't kill !!! ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
The fact that a women aren't seen as important existance is a good thing too in the stories like this because It's autmatically means that heroine must be a strong kind and not (annoying for me atleast) weak type. ლ(´ڡ`ლ)

well to each her own, I suppose (๑•ㅂ•)و✧. If the main character is going to be strong I'd really much rather read yaoi...but that's just me I guess lol ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Im a girl irl and i liked this manga concept of being in the middle east because even though the women there had little rights the main character was very independent and strong. I think thats what makes this manga amazing, her defiance even though mostly everyone is against her(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
