Soo basically it’s not forced and you just don’t like that plotline so you decide that it’s forced. That kidnapping was literally foreshadowed when they were out for groceries, the kidnapping also wasn’t JUST for them to "bond" like the other commenter said and explained way better than I ever could. Throughout the few episodes we had, the MC and the ML already had multiple occasions to "bond", the author is literally just making us take a few glimpse at how Mugo really is like, the plot is literally just setting up

You haven't been paying much attention and not reading very critically, since there are many themes of abuse that have yet to be discussed but are still part of the plot to show us exactly what environment these character are living in and the circumstances of their current lives. The author has shown in their previous work that they don't condone abuse and there is a reason why things are happening to characters and why they make certain choices. Also....things need to happen for stories to progress so with the answer you gave you can say that every novel and story even written is forced.
