Reading the comments sort of ruined my mood after reading the story. This is a love story that didn't just end as soon as they fell in love and lived happily ever after. In real life, a lot of things can happen to a relationship. You may become bored, love loses magic.. and on top of that, the anxiety of being a same-sex couple in this day and time.
People make mistakes. Real life couples make mistakes. Nobody is perfect and in some point of everyone's lives, they've done something wrong and are considered jerks. But why get hung up on it? Mistakes and regrets are all part of life. This is unlike all those other yaoi's where a couple manages to stay faithful forever. It isn't always so smooth sailing in real life.
So yes, to the people saying the seme was a jerk - you're right, he was a jerk in the sense that he made the uke suffer in depression, but if you can't let go of that and forgive him, you're missing the point. He realised his mistake and regretted it, and they both still loved each other. The ultimate goal is happiness, and although there was a major setback, be happy they eventually found it again.
