Id like to think they were originally horrifying but they liked the bottom mc so they act cute in front of him lolol.
That’s so cute! I sometimes imagine them as an extension of Mugo, maybe representing his attachment to MC even if he doesn’t show it. It could also match up with how he says being with them can bring bad luck.
