You’re right! She is making small steps! Her ex really did take everything from her! Including, her safety to open her heart again! He really ruined her perspective on love and that does take a long time to heal from.
It must be her ex. You know how our FL was in debt because of her ex? She paid off their debt and couldn’t do anything she liked or even take the time to think about it. Look at her—she couldn’t even get a proper job and had to juggle several part-time ones instead. Those struggles consumed her completely. But after the ML appeared, she started to change. The steps she took might be small, but she’s improving.
