Legitimately, why is sexual assault the go-to? It’s not an appropriate “punishment” or “karmic retribution” no matter what the situation is, and it’s especially egregious in the context of a relationship with someone you’re supposed to love. I can’t remember where exactly but somewhere in all these comments someone suggested that the author probably put it in there because “sex sells” and they wanted to have smut in the finale… I am so disturbed by that thought process, if it is the case.
