the fact that cale's bloodline itself might be smth like the dragon hunters cus, if dragons are as feared as they are told to be in this story, we literally never see any of that fear or nervousness from cale, AND that does hold up that if there were dragon hunters, their family would probably have a lot of money, from hunting the dragon, but it wouldn't be something as high positioning as ducal or smth cus they're still "hunters" that receives titles from nobility like a certificate of sorts.
