you’re here illegally too?? and it’s the comment section, where ppl express their opinions. which i’m sure you’re familiar w considering how you’re also expressing your own opinion.
and you’re telling me you didn’t find that rape scene uncomfortable and unnecessary?? they could’ve gone in a whole different direction for the season finale. i’m allowed to express dissatisfaction. just like you are rn.

How is mentioning the author too far when they’re the one writing the story? Jaeyi is not real, everything he does is a choice that the author made. Authors don’t publish work in a vacuum, they publish them for people to interact with. Do you really think the author didn’t intend to provoke a reaction with this? People talking about it is the entire point.

While I don't disagree it's ooc writing, given what we know about Jaeyi...
Please remember that the author is Korean, writing for Koreans, who predominantly are desensitized to, or even enjoy rape scenes---so no, they're not out to illicit a reaction. They're just doing what they think their audience base wants. Whether or not you think it's rightful criticism, this is the context in reality that we're not the target demographic.

That may be the case, but not being the target demographic doesn’t mean you can’t critique the work as you experience it yourself. We consume media that’s made by and for other cultures, ages, sexualities all the time, because that’s what happens when work is released into the world. Just because it’s not made for us specifically doesn’t mean it doesn’t reach us or effect us. And in this case we’re reading the official English translation, so regardless of the original demographic, we ARE actually being specifically marketed to.
The author is free to write what they want, for whatever reason they want - and readers are allowed to express their opinions, good or bad.

No way in hell the ml was someone who can do something like this! The author has changed their character completedly! It can nvr be him! Shittiest author ever! Hope they nvr able to do any work. And I know saying it here won't mean anything. That's why I have already done what I need to do in the author's personal account. And I am not alone. There's so many ppl there who had payed for the author's works. So many of them r now dropping this story after lashing it out on the author. And The author deserves it! Author who normalize r*pe like this...they are r*pist themselves.

I think you misunderstood what I wrote. I'm not at all saying you can't make a judgement because you're consuming it. It's your perogative what you wanna critique. I'm just saying, that assuming/asserting that the author is doing this to "provoke a reaction" outta westerners is not a given fact. They do not KNOW if it will reach outside their target audience when it's created, as not all works are licensed. And then the other commentor calling the author akin to a rapist is also going too far. Lots of people enjoy rape fantasy content, that doesn't make them encouraging of actual rapists whether or not you agree.

I certainly wouldn’t and didn’t call the author a rapist, that’s not okay and completely nonsensical. I know you referenced someone else making that comment, so I’m not sure why you’re directing it at me, but I never said anything remotely along those lines. I’m not against anyone’s fantasies or fetishes either. There are a few rape play oneshots that I actually like because they’re done well. But context matters. I’m not going to complain about non-consensual behavior in a story where I know I’m going to see non-consensual behavior. But in my opinion the pervasiveness and normalization of SA across the entire genre goes beyond fetish content.
Leaving that aside, you’re right that the author wasn’t intending to provoke westerners specifically - I didn’t mean to imply that. I just meant that provoking reaction and discussion is the whole point of sudden shifts in tone or plot direction, especially in a season finale.
fuck the author
that rape scene was so so fucking unnecessary
and it’s the season finale too
i wonder if the author is gonna leave any notes
does anyone know how knetz reacted to the ch?
