This was out of character

This felt so out of character for the main lead. Bro didn't even want to have sex without a condom and then suddenly rape like what. I really liked this series and now I'm sad.

It’s supposed to be out of character since… wouldn’t you behave the same if you were literally betrayed like that? I probably wouldn’t rape that person, but I’d want them to feel hurt and the author just chose rape. It’s fiction so I shut my brain off for these parts lol

That I am! I like reading Harada and psychological bls so I guess I just have a good tolerance for these things. Not a good thing, but allows me to enjoy a story more

Well, that's the thing, rape works as a traumatic plot device in psychological BL, because it's portrayed to be toxic, manipulative, and inhumane. Any romantic story with a happy ending that features rape is a paradox. Rape doesn't lead to happy endings, it shouldn't lead to redemption or forgiveness, and if an author does try to do that, it just goes to show that both they and the readers that eat it up are incredibly out of touch.
