i lowkey get it from dan's pov. he is so heavily depressed and lonely that he doesnt gaf about himself anymore. his attempt to just lose himself and pay of his debts to jk makes me think he gave up on life and i wont be surprised if there will be a suicide arc in one of the following chapters.
however, from jk's pov, he's just a piece of shit. he doeant actually care or respect dan and he never will, even if he should have his "redemption arc" one day. he doesnt care about dan as a person, he just cares about his own feelings and wanting to be taken care of and tended to like a child at all times
