side note, did you prefer alexander (2004) or the netflix documentary alexander: the making of a god?

both were equally good, making of a god does touch a little more on their relationship then 2004 does, since 2004 doesn’t even let them properly kiss lmao, but making of a god doesn’t touch on hephaestion’s death and the aftermath like 2004 does.

Have you read the "Fire From Hell" series by Mary Renault? I've only read the first one so far but really enjoyed it. Historically it portrays the Helinistic way of life pretty accurately and it explores his sexuality and relationship with Hephaistion. If you do read it keep in mind it was written in the 70's so theres some good ol' internalized homophobia and other... Vibes to it.

I’ll never forget alexander’s scream of pure agony when hephaestion died in ‘04, oof. (probably was worse in reality since ya know.. he didn’t make it back in time before hephaestion was already gone.)

I’m sorry to admit but when I watched alexander in 04 rant about their future together while hephaestion visibly died in the background I laughed really hard, because yeah, I’m totally gonna rant about the future together regarding my partner and I while they silently die in obvious pain behind me.

did you ever read / watch reign: the conqueror? it’s originally an old novel retelling of alexander’s life, the anime of it is a bit.. how do I say this? there’s two english dubs, aka the original dub to the series, and the movie dub which was just really weird? unfortunately the dub to the movie is completely lost media.
