That scene changed alot of my opinion on him. I do care he stole, i care for his well being and morality.
Also his mother is kinda shitty seeing as he wore smelly cloths, did all the chores, got excellent grades and then really expensive cloths from hyung but his mother never noticed at all. He was kind of neglected. Alot. I get she was working for a minimum living but at least notice ur poor child who ended up lying and stealing
In my opinion none of that was necessarily changed, from the beginning yoo won has always been curious and he wanted to figure out why the shells were special, which he couldn't because at the end of the day the girl can make new memories, get new shells that hold the same "meaning" {which if she forgot about them so quickly until he brought it back up they clearly weren't as special. In the end it was more of an opportunistic/pack mentality type thing for all the kids involved to take down the weaker man and took from him something more than a jar of shells.}. In no way am I condoning theft, but in this case during the beginning/middle and if he gave it back. Was it truly anything against morality?
And with the mother I respectfully disagree, having to work enough to support your child but not yourself is tough enough. And that's generally all she was thinking of as a goal while working. All for yoo won and his future. It was either work in order to secure yoo won got the best she could provide & pass out from constant exhaustion, or struggle even more and end up living place to place/ on the street and yoo won ends up having nothing, which in that case would have led to worse scenarios for his up-bringing. For her situation I think she made the right decisions while still making what little time she could for her son. It certainly could've been worse.
But to each their own I suppose, that's the beauty of literature/manga such as these. You're free to interpret a situation as you wish based on your own mentality ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I also forgot to add when he was talking to the hyung at the bus-stop and adamantly stated "How do you know if i'm lying or not, why are you accusing me" {along those lines}.
I feel the main point he was trying to get across was "Whether or not i've done something how would you know? Why suddenly just pin it on me and brand me as something like i'm instantly the bad guy." and that speaks volumes about what was going through his head at the time. Sub-consciously or not. That in no way makes him innocent, but it also doesn't make him fully guilty either.
I think you're wrong in the shells topic, she didn't forget them but what else it's to do if you won't retrieve what was stole from you?, There's nothing to do except accept it and that's what she did. If you look closely it doesn't seem like nor MW nor semi talk to YW even after he became cool, probably semi didn't talk to him because she was still hurt cause he stole the shells, I don't really understand why you're trying to defend his wrong and criminal actions, if you like the character is one thing but what he died has not excuse and even if he return them at the end it's still morally and legally wrong because it's still robbery, nothing change that fact and nothing make it right , besides he never really feel bad for his actions, and he never apologise for what he did
Analyzing her reactions, no, she 100% forgot about the shells up until that moment. If it were any other case, and they really did mean that much she would at the most start tearing up a bit. But the most we got was her shocked face and that was that. Nothing more came from the interaction. You seem to be looking at the surface of this entire situation instead of the underlying issues/causes and the more in-depth mental state for everyone in light of what had been going on.
Also once again, me nor anyone is denying that legally its wrong to steal, but at the same time there was a point trying to be made by both the author and the character himself. No ones trying to "make it right". But this isn't simply black and white, right and wrong.
There's so much more happening. Its not even that I like his character {for the longest time I actually felt the utmost animosity towards the way he treated both jumi/heebum and how manipulative he is}. I just know how to differentiate between certain situations.
In no way does he necessarily have any reason to feel bad for what he did. Not apologizing was a shitty thing to do, but reasoning's and his inner mind have been played out in recent chapters and regardless.
But as i've stated to each their own I suppose, I tend not to dwell on these things because some people just have a more straight line of justice rather than searching through other factors/variables.¯_(ツ)_/¯
wELL, I wasn't expecting that. So he did take it.....Ahem, psa announcement, my child is still innocent, I don't care. At least he returned it. His childhood happiness was worth more than some shells anyway and they robbed that from him, but thats something you can't get back. So an eye for an eye.
AND MOTHER YOU ARE NOT GARBAGE, YOU'RE TRYING YOUR BEST UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND YOO WON KNOWS THIS PLEASE DON'T BE SAD.
