tbf, in a world where there are monsters you literally don't know if that's simply a mouse or some kind of monster just disguising itself as a mouse :')
and when you're scared for your life, I'm pretty sure you'll get startled by everything
Also considering that rats would probably eat the food they've saved, I think it's understandable lol
On top of that the mice could be carrying diseases and other germs that could hurt everyone as a collective

You'd think that despite having goblins and insane monsters start the end of the world, that humans would feel less fear in rats lmao. I think it's funny that even tho they have scarier things now, they're still scared of rats. I could just imagine the others screaming in fright if a cockroach even dared to show it's presence to the humans lolololol
I don't blame them for seeing mice as something negative, like it's hideous and disgusting... But the fact that they're in a world where monster exist and they're still being startled, disgusted, and scared of mice is kinda hilarious ಥ‿ಥ
