Jesse isn't his child actually. Jesse is a child of the queen to her former lover priest which made him think that even in the palace, he is still overshadowed by someone because he doesn't have the queen's love. His resentment added more when Jesse was born wil purple eyes, which symbolize divinity (?) or something. (Purple eyes is revered in the Holy Kingdom) and none of his children have so he thinks his children are even overshadowed by Jesse so he wants to kill him.

I’m confused why the consort hates Jesse now hearing that the crown princess mentioned that their mother would like the siblings to be partners…. Jesse is his flesh and blood no? Is it jealousy since the consort has always been overshadowed since young? But he hated Jesse before he was sent a hostage and awakened to his powers… I’m just wondering when this hate started because this malice has been brewing for some time now
