ohhh i see the confusion. i think what he meant was that it wasn't her appearance that pulled him in first because it was actually her personality. he wasn't saying that courtney is unattractive, but rather that her appearance just came second to that. he even continues to compliment her upturned eyes :3
i think the way its written/translated seems like she wasn't attractive to him, but that clearly isnt the case~ its pretty clear he finds her VERY attractive, but he fell for her personality first~

Yea the structure of the sentences confused me cause the way he goes from saying her appearance isnt what got his attention to saying" if she wasn't my type" ,referring to her aggressive behavior, "I would've never considered marrying her. Especially her upturned eyes" seemed as if he's saying her appearance particularly her eyes aren't his type at all. If he's complimenting her his words should've been rearranged and said differently cause ik he finds her attractive.
