I don't think he was human, I think he was a snake.
Ugh accidentally posted before I was done. I think he must have been a snake that be came a mountain or forest spirit then he fell in love with a human. He was probably captured and tortured and his human love killed so he made a deal/ bargain for the godly powers for revenge
Who abused him during his human life enough to the point he still has severe claustrophobia as a god?
