Am i tripping or some chapters are cut? Cuz why was she in the car with him

it might’ve been her thinking ab how her relationship was different with that guy than it is now. ex; asking her ab dinner, she gets transported back into the car with her ex and she starts feeling like she used to feel. but then she snaps back and she’s with this new guy. (trauma response ?) idk im just guessing that’s what it was. sorry if that doesn’t make sense.
