IK honestly i didn't like winter at ALL while reading the comic version but in the novels idk he's just so romantic IDK
I think the colours are just for different characters and not expressing what they feel. But read the chapter again, he does trust her
Maybe you see something in him that we can’t (I’ve read the novel but I didn’t remember any scenes with him except major important plot ones)
