You are so right ! Not only abandonment is a trauma, but trauma are passed down to at least three generations (epigenetic - family constellation, currently reading Mark Wolyn)
I read daniel Siegel for the attachement theory, i’d love to ear your insight too
i also don’t understand how so many characters live like there’s a prophecy written in some book /novel/ game, without realizing people are people, not « characters ». Of course they change depending how their interactions affect them.
It’s even worse this time, because it’s indeed very detrimental to the child
Thank you so much for that refreshing point

Sometimes the authors do plot shit that makes it impossible for the characters to avoid their fate and they usually have to find some new magical loop hole to escape that or end the creator themselves.
Dumb dumb in this story, rather than process that healing takes time and the characters don’t really act like their story counterparts, therefore there is a high chance things will change, she assumes the worst and decides on the stupidest plans.
And honestly, for a woman who was also abused by her father and one that says she understands how her step son feels, you would think she’d know that if she started giving him the world and then just abandoned him, that he would get hurt.
But noooo, she assumes he’ll get over it cause she was so mean at first. Like, huh?
I hate the dynamic where the father is always jealous of the son. Bc why did they think that was a good idea. It's actually just gross. That is the child. You are the father. Stop.
Also the bitch wants to leave Hir bc staying with him will only bring bad memories or hurt him. However that's fucking stupid. She is no longer the same person as before. If she was trully was planning to leave Hir she should've just avoid him all together but instead she actively tries to make him like her and rewrite all her wrongs. Trying to act like a mother figure in his life. While actively thinking she is going to abandon him in a year.
Like if she wasn't a reincarnate from modern society I would kinda understand bc child knowledge isn't that well known, but she is from this world and from this time. It's common knowledge that child abandoment will cause them more harm if the parent in question actively does things to make the child grow attatched. Not to mention the fact that we all know how forgiving children are, especially to their abusers bc all they want is their love. And bc she was abused in the passed she should especially know this. Like she has no excuse.
The author is dumb bc the conclusions they made the Fml come to…does not make sense. Like at this point, it wasn't mental gymnastics bc, at least there would be an excuse then. But there was none. Absolutely none of the conclusions made was a good enough excuse for all the choices she decided upon. It was only to drag on the story bc running away is apparently a good plot device. Which news flash it's not. The story would be infinitely better if she just had abandoned the thought or never thought about it all together and just tried to be the best mother she could for Hir. Fucking dumb.
