I like the fact that she already had a plausible reason for why she isn't able to "concur" the emperor. Because had she not, his mind would have spiraled into that 'curse' his dad most likely made up. But her little "your mom was the previous owner so maybe she made it so no one could manipulate you" was perfect reasoning and he didn't dwell on it at all. I think it was thoughtless for her but it was probably important for him. Or I like to think it was
