It never exists in BL. Why? Idk. It would definitely be refreshing if such were mentioned in BL but nah.

ykw, condoms aren’t 100% effective at preventing stis. and honestly, even though there's treatment, why go through all that trouble- spending money on treatment and dealing with emotional stress?

my brother, i think you are afraid of intimacy and have been taught to slutshame.

there is nothing wrong with consensual sex between adults. the idea of excess and concern trolling are implicit religion that have no place in the world, certainly not in anything other than causing more stress and misery, and certainly not in gay media.

Stupid Mangago, deleting my other parts.

After I said: Consensual is one thing:
My concern is towards those that don’t do treatments or get themselves checked, idk what redacted meant but for me, why put yourself and others at risk when having a more than two person intercourse and/or orgy. If that person involved in an orgy is interested in me, and wants to sleep with me, I’d definitely want them checked. Nothing about slut shaming, at least not from me.

It doesn’t exist in BL (a bit satire cause BL is known for lack of sex Ed) therefore I don’t think about the risk of STI spreading. It would be nice if mentioned but I can do without it too. It’s fiction for a reason.

i mean, you clearly get that this stuff is fiction. authors are very rarely going to spend time going over STI prevention & treatment bc there's a high chance it'll come across as grandstsnding or proselytizing. people read these things to have fun, not to learn about how things work.

can fantasy media cause substantial harm? sure. which is why it's important to remind people fiction is fiction and to educate people in a serious environment. like sex ed class. in reality, we can't force people to adhere to not having sex, and we shouldn't try, bc promoting abstinence and not teaching about or giving access to contraceptives and medical aid always leads to significant increases in STIs and unwanted pregnancy. in essence, telling people to just stop having sex doesn't help anyone. unless you think everything on the romance to porn spectrum should have a pamphlet on safe sex practices?

that aside, there are a handful of BLs that address condom use & STI testing. those are the more down-to-earth type. there are many, many more BLs that have a virgin protagonist and their journey to find The One. and there are many that show condom use, even with committed couples.

I think you’re generalizing a bit here. I didn’t say to stop having sex, have more protected sex when you’re in an orgy or even just between two people. But it is more riskier and chances of spreading is higher with multiple partners if not clean.

Anyway, what you said is your own perspective and opinion. I’ll leave that be.
