It’s not a happy situation I agree. But please note that they did so out of concern/love. They aren't being malicious or anything like that nothing comes out good with being too serious with life. Jonghyun should take it as a surprise?

Personally, no matter how loving the intent behind it, this kind of lying just to keep him "the innocent baby of the family" is lowkey insulting & straight up manipulative.

You know what's insulting and manipulative? Forcing him to talk about his sexuality when it's obvious he's not comfortable outing himself yet. Jonghyun has every decision to tell his family he's dating Chaeheon, but he didnt and he's secretive cause he dont want to go out of the closet yet. Chaeheon's family meeting in private is their way of accepting him without confronting him "hey i heard your gay thats why you want to move out, is that true?" -- that's what gonna be insulting. And then, since his mother is not accepting of it, the conversation will go "you'll have a hard time with life etc, why dont you like women, etc, maybe you're just confused" -- and now that's manipulative. So, I agree with the other reader saying they did this out of love. Yes they do. And if you know what its like to have a gay family member you'll understand that the greatest form of support a family member can give is accepting that person in silence, if not openly supporting them. For parents who are still stuck with the old ideals and could not wholeheartedly support their queer/gay children, supporting them in silence even without saying it, is a form of love too.

guys i agree with the points, I have a gay sibling myself. what I'm mainly put off about is that they're are planning things/having meetings about me and my life behind my back, as if I'm some toddler. BUT, I agree to not forcing him to come out yet. MAYBE it could have been better if it was just the family meeting, not including Chaeheon? I honestly dont't know. It's also so weird he's not even a little bit curious about what his family and chaeheon are meeting secretly about like stop living in La La Land for a few moments bud. What you said makes sense. I think it all goes down to the character of jonghyun being uncurious or uninterested to even figure out what's happening with chaeheon and his family's private talks. Overall, he really just go with the flow and accepts everything that happens without questioning much
