I actually really liked how it was depicted.
To me it felt realistic, like two complex characters that respect each other for their respective qualities having the right time and place. It's not a random sex scene for the sake of it or for fanservice.
It's not like it was a brainless female character made solely to glaze on the mc, or a brainless mc looking at every women like a piece of meat, or a superstoic mc that never looked at a women once.
When I say it's realistic, it's because yes, people have desires and not hiding it feels more real and in tone with the series.

I totally respect your opinion, and I get why it might feel natural in the story. I just personally prefer to avoid anything romance-related because, most of the time, it feels repetitive, full of clichés, and often takes away from the MC’s character once they fall in love. I know there are some well-written ones out there, but it’s just not for me.

Man not all intimate scene are romantic. As you can "actually" see/read. This one served a narrative purpose.
Let me tell you how and why.
This is the example meaning of "calm before the storm" so what im saying is the intimacy was used to humanize the characters its not derailed they just create a false sense of comfort before the betrayal. (Yknow they toot then treasure gone)
Why is dat!?
U read them chapters and shit faded out quickly not even his very own long sword been shown. Then the plot resumed the very next morning which only few pages left after and the scene had direct consequences.
What consequences?
They were left behind, betrayed, and now conflict begins. That’s not random that’s good pacing as it was part of the emotional setup before the real twist: "the friend’s betrayal and the reveal about the treaure" jk but yeah we call em emotional whiplash. Its where the scene added depth, not fluff. ( ̄へ ̄)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and well-explained response. I really appreciate the way you broke it down, especially from a narrative and almost directorial perspective. That kind of analysis is genuinely interesting to me, and it's always great to see different angles on scenes like this.
Just to clarify my own view a bit more: I don’t hate the story at all—on the contrary, it’s one of my favorites because of how grounded and unique the MC is. He doesn’t follow the usual tropes and feels very real, which is why I care so much about how he’s written.
My comment wasn’t against the scene itself or its purpose in the plot. I was just personally reacting to how intimacy is often handled in many other stories—where it ends up stripping the MC of his identity or agency, just to show that now he’s dependent on his partner, or suddenly acts differently to serve the relationship dynamic. It always feels off, especially when it happens suddenly or without proper development. That pattern shows up a lot in stories that are repetitive and predictable, where the characters lack depth or proper backstory. So my concern was more about hoping this story doesn’t fall into that same trap, especially since it’s already proven to be quite different and well-written so far.
That said, your point about emotional setup and the "calm before the storm" framing was a really solid interpretation—and I do see how it works narratively. I'm also someone who's genuinely interested in storytelling as an art form: how scenes are framed, the emotional beats, the symbolism, the editing flow, the environment—everything. I don’t expect everyone to look at things that way, but for me, it’s something I enjoy exploring.
So again, thanks for the insight! It was a cool exchange of perspectives.
What the hell?! Noooo AUTHOR Noooo Noooo don't put romance out of nowhere (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
Why would you throw in a random sex scene (it was skipped and nothing showed but even still ) out of nowhere?! The story was so good already and now this? It just ruined the whole vibe for me. I’m worried this is going to become a real thing later and mess up everything I liked about the story.
╥﹏╥
