Maybe because of the sudden romance? Like there's no verbalization at all before they stated that they are already dating? They lacked screentime together doing lovey dovey stuff to express each other's feelings and like we are all shock of that chapter where in Noona suddenly said that she's Jiwoo's girlfriend.

I understood when people felt that way 50+ chapters ago but he did go through a growing period in the last few chapters so to me he really looks like he’s finally on her level

To me what’s sudden is the relationship status mostly because I guess I didn’t realize we were meant to take it seriously when Jiwoo pretended that Jiyoung was taken so she wouldn’t be with that other guy who gave Duke the drugs, but his feelings have been there since the first time they met and she developed hers later on. Every 80’or so chapters, people saw that and whined about it like it was sudden just because it’s never been the focus but it’s been there for a long time. Just very subtle and brief
