I wonder if the latter volumes have the same density (thickness) as the volumes printed before them (or they have an inconsistent number of chapters in them to even it out) since most of the other chapters until around chapter 30 all had 24-30 or so pages in them, but now we're lucky if there's 14.

Nevertheless, I am still enjoying this. I'm curious to find out why Kurose hasn't bothered communicating any of this information to Shirotani. They told each other they love each other, so why distance yourself now? Because you never had sex after that? That can't be it.
My only thoughts are it might be because Kurose is thinking Shirotani (and others[?]) won't need him anymore now that he knows about the author-man ending up fine without him, but then that means he either didn't take Shirotani's confession seriously, or he wasn't convinced he did love Shirotani regardless of his mysophobia. That really doesn't make sense, though, so I'll be surprised if that's the case. Or maybe it's because he thinks he has nothing to atone for now, so 'why bother', and is feeling conflicted or lost, and it wasn't something he wanted to concern Shirotani with in the first place despite everything. This would make more sense than my other thought if it weren't for the fact that the lady claimed he'd been planning on leaving for a while by that point, which means he was either planning on quitting before he saw his former Senpai, or there was a time-jump between 40 and 41. I dunno!
