A Calvary member named Devan went to go visit his home city. He goes missing so kishar tells yuder to choose 2 men (jimmy & gakane) to go to his home city and figure out wtf is going on. While traveling to the city, they meet a group of bandit-like ppl led by an awakened individual named nahan (scar on one eye dude). Nahan’s ability is revealed to be some kind of illusion (for now). Nahan + the Calvary members go to the city. They find out half of it burned. Yuder + the other 2 cavalry members see a soldier and talks to him. Obviously, all the soldiers don’t like them and hold animosity towards them. They say they’ll speak to them later but in reality yuder & the rest of the Calvary members are locked in a room :’) spoilers below:
Dw they survive. Jimmy manifests as an alpha. Devran and his remaining family members are saved (his powers also improve greatly). Nahan ends up being a sort of enemy (he’s the main enemy throughout the novel so far). I think this is also where yuder meets kiolle (annoying imperial knight that yuder knocked off his feet twice already) and makes him his lackey, bound by oath. Yuder uses up too much power and the mark on his hand grows up over his shoulder & he has a hurt/comfort moment with kishiar (who surprise surprise) has divine powers too & can heal c:
