I'm only on 65 but I just can't stop thinking that this is so dystopian. The empire conquered a bunch of kingdoms then have them play for their independence for viewing pleasure under the guise of finding true love. Especially if the story about mermaids was true, the empire is messed up. At this point the rebellion was justified.

I hope the author focuses on that storyline more.
