I don't like that Yousuke called Sakura a girl. . . he was a straight man ( now bi) before so he thinks if a man starts liking soft and cute things, it makes them into a girl? He is projecting gender stereotypes onto Sakura. Other people's thoughts and preferences doesn't determine Sakura's gender identity and sexuality. Only his own thoughts should matter. And most of the concerns about his gender are brought up by the boyfriend too, if you have to think of Sakura as a girl to date him, then do you even accept him?
Sakura's own frustration seems to be tied with wanting to appear normal, if he was a girl it would be 'normal' to like soft and cute things. When he talks about liking skirts and slowly realizing that he's a boy, is him realizing that it's not societally accepted for boys to like feminine things. besides that I don't really see him having body dysmorphia??
And the author says ' thank you for enabling my fixation of !! " Bearded middle aged men"!! driving on the right side'
Like I'm agender but sometimes I want to be a prince and sometimes a princess, but that doesn't make me a man or a woman!!!!!
But if you are a trans person and sees yourself in Sakura. You are allowed to enjoy the story and relate to the story in a way that makes the reading experience a good one. If in your mind Sakura is trans then he/she/they are. And no one, not even in the author can deny you the comfort it brings you < 3
