Normal and weird don’t exist. Everyone does weird things and are weird, like the LGBTQ+. They are a minority, but we don’t go calling them weird if we have an ounce of empathy and compassion. Just because you don’t have a liking for rape does not make it “weird”, this is my normal and many others’ normal. Would it be better if a majority of people thought rape was hot? What is the difference if only a minority believe rape is hot?

Obviously there’s a difference, lgbtq+ are seemingly innocent and do no harm while rape fetishists can do harm if they reach into reality. But that’s the only difference, they’re similar in every other way. So I can’t see how lgbtq+ people can’t empathize with rape fetishists or the like.
    Non-acting pedophiles are similar too.
Even then, harm or not—I don’t care. People are free and everyone will die sooner or later. People enjoy what they enjoy and no one can stop anyone from enjoying what they want. This manga is a guilty pleasure for me and the uke is hot, regardless of what anyone says.

You just made it so much worse Rape damages people even for the rest of their life, psychologically and physically. It's disgusting, and you're comparing that to loving the same sex?

It is disgusting to you, but for many like me, instances of rape like in this manwha are not disgusting and even attractive. There are people of all different strokes, those that like guro. Guro disturbs me but I still accept those who enjoy guro, I just try to avoid looking at it.
Besides that, what you said is true. But truly, it does not matter in the end. In a hedonistic manner, even if it scars and damages someone forever, if it’s enjoyable it should be done. We only have one life, why not do what we want? We are free to enjoy ourselves.
The reason I compare those with rape fantasies and those who are lgbtq is because both are oppressed. In general, those who are deviant are oppressed. That’s why lgbtq people should have empathy for deviants—because deviants (rape fetishists, non-acting or acting pedophiles) are oppressed, even if it’s deserving. Also, sometimes lgbtq are lumped in with rapists. Take for example the stereotype that trans women try to rape women in the bathroom.
That is just my radical view and I understand why a lot of people would not understand. I do see where you are coming from because lgbtq really should not be oppressed. They are doing no harm to people and their lives, but the reason they are oppressed is because they go against established systems like the nuclear family, gender, and heteronormativity.

You're right, I absolutely don't understand. It's disgusting and violent or traumatizing to the point of ruining someone's life, don't see what attractive about that

Just wanted to say this entire argument is cheeks, people can like whatever the fuck they want in their yaoi. I don't care if someone wants to read about some dude drilling a hole in his uke's skull and sucking the juices out. People can do what they want. That being said, saying pedophiles are valid is insane and out of touch. The difference between the average toxic BL reader and a person who ACTUALLY FANTASIZES ABOUT COMMITTING REAL RAPE should be extremely clear to you. The second people lose the plot and deviate from fiction as a controlled kink to fantasizing about hurting real people is the second they lose any decency. This was literally a comment about buff ukes and now people are bringing up support for IRL paraphiles. What the fuck.

This is going to be my last post on this thread since I realized that, yeah, discussing rape fantasy, pedophiles, and rape fetishists is not relevant to the original topic at all. But I would like to defend myself and rationalize why I feel this way. Obviously, the more correct opinion would be that enjoying fictional depictions of rape is ok, as long as there is a clear line between fiction and reality. I.e, no real life people are depicted in the erotica. There’s this blurry line with *fictional* children being depicted, but I think that should also be okay too.

I don’t really hold my previous view anymore. I don’t have rape thoughts in real life and would not actually rape someone. But I did empathize with those people that do, and by extension, pedophiles because they are chastised for something they cannot really control. They can control how they act, but not their attraction. I thought it was sad that they would always be craving something but never being able to fulfill that desire. How does someone cope with that? I’m lucky because I can express my desire in a non-harmful way through erotica online, and rape fantasiers can participate in CNC if they do incline. I don’t know if pedophiles or rapists can do that. Can rapists really feel fulfilled with CNC? Obviously, this view is flawed. Empathy for people like that can be bad since I literally began enabling them. I just don’t like the “monster” or “disgusting” comments. Instead, support should be given to them by offering alternatives that ARE healthy and productive, instead of just taking away all the coping mechanisms they have.
Thank you for reading this long ass essay where I repeated a bunch of things. You are right and I’m wrong, just wanted to clear my position up. I guess I just wanted more empathy to be shown to those who were different, but of course I should have been more careful about how I used and expressed that empathy.

I haven't been online for a hot second but I appreciate you coming back to clarify your position. I do believe that non-offending individuals who suffer from paraphilias and mental illnesses like POCD deserve help and treatment. But I would caution people to be more mindful of how they discuss these issues. If a person has urges to commit acts of sexual violence those urges should be discouraged. And a lot of people within the BL reader space have been very adamant on separating people who like taboo fictional porn and people who have the desire to hurt others IRL. I believe this dichotomy is important because one side is exploring a kink while recognizing that the things involved in that kink are unacceptable in real life, while the other is using said kink to tide themselves over and satiate very real impulses to harm people. I believe that conflating the two is dangerous. It's important to have empathy for others naturally, but the BL/manhwa space should never become a space where pedophiles feel at home. Those people need to be discouraged and should seek help and/or removed entirely from the community if they've committed an offense. Mangago isn't the best place for nuance imo so I am glad that you came back to elaborate more. Just so we're on the same page, I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with having empathy for people who suffer from a condition that is completely unimaginable to most people. It's normal and healthy to have empathy like that because it contributes to a better environment where people can feel safe in seeking help for their disorders. But there is a limit to acceptance, of course, and while we may extend understanding to paraphiles, the things they want are inherently wrong and if left unchecked, can create a lifetime of suffering for others. We should be more open to dialogue, yes, but we should never enable sexually violent behavior. I appreciate that you took more time to consider your stance and how your language was promoting enabling. Thanks for giving your thoughts.

Aw, thanks Bee! I appreciate that <3. I know mangago has pretty much become a porn site, but there’s still a community here, as unserious as it may be, so I would like to try to stimulate meaningful conversations and speak out against behavior that is actually harmful in real life. Thank you for reading what I had to say.
