The father's reasoning is that he might take him back if he keeps in contact with her. But seriously, I know that it's customary (at the time) for nobles to wed their young daughters but he could've still talked to her about it. That one declaration at the dining table (where the brother's MC gives up his chocolate cake to her) is pretty half-assed. She didn't even know what marriage is supposed to be for God's sake. Though it's good that they were able to mend in that family reunion, I think that if the father just talked and explained the marriage to MC that they wouldn't have to be like this.

i understand the time period and all that so i kinda get where he’s coming from, the apology was very half assed tho. he was like scared if he checked up on her he’d want to take her back but like- in the original timeline she became homeless and died alone because no one was there for her, his fear is like such a stupid fear he SHOUD want to bring his kid back if shit hits the fan, he SHOULD care about his daughter. the child neglect was brushed over so casually i could not stand that man
i should not have let this cook for so long. did they really brush over child neglect with an apology? an apology she had to ask for? holy shit her father is actually such an awful person, why did they forgive him
