I don't think that's the case, on chapter 55 the old man mentioned that younger people are more useful than the old ones. And they were killed on a car with the MC but they didn't kill him since he's still a kid.

Why I feel like the dad found out about the motel n saw they were plotting to take mc (his son) to make him another sacrifice so he found a way to let him escape before the village chief came and killed them
