I think the photo his aunt had was of him and Dohu, so he had no choice but to go away to appease his family. Then they lost contact.
I hope we see why Juheon didn't tell Dohu next season. I see why someone like Dohu would just suck it up and believe Juheon wants nothing to do with him, like everyone else (in his mind), but I wish Juheon just asked for an explanation.
