I think he can't see red that's why he was missing all those traffic lights and was unable to see the blood stains, instead of red he might be seeing some different color grey perhaps not sure which color though
Maybe it's other way he sees red as dull green..

How did yall land on the belief that Matthew’s colour blindness makes him see green as red? Doesn’t deutaranopia make greens appear like yellow/brown? It should also make green and red appear like the same colour, not make one the other.
