Omg ! I was thinking the same thing!
But listen, listen. I went back to the scene to check if they ordered something (Idc if it's fiction, no café lets you stay without ordering) and there's just one cup that's placed closest to Haruna, right? But neither of them even touch it!
So if no one sees Haruna, Souma totally looks like some sort of basket case! ꉂ(≧▽≦)

Right, it's odd! Even if he "disappeared" just to do that trick, then that would mean one sec he was there, and then *poof* gone.
But I guess if he's omnipotent, there could also just be an illusion to look normal for other people etc etc. Needless to say, the author didn't elaborate on this part of the world building ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ probably didn't think it was necessary

It's quite hilarious to think about what pulls a reader right out of the story; we can suspend our disbelief for many things, but as soon as we get confused it's over.
Just imagine if the author read our comments. "It was just to visually prove a point! Stop putting yourselves in the shoes of the backdrop characters!" (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

I thought like that too... He said his body has always been like that, but does that mean that since he was born he could go poof? Or has he always just been a soul? Which is apparently not possible since he would have to haunt someone + change his anchors so they wouldn't die... Or his body is still there with Hagino, but for visual effects we only see the "soul"? That wouldn't make sense too... So confusing
The only thing I'm confused about is when Haruna said "they cant see me too" when he floated lol. So in that place (looked like a cafe?), was he just invisible the whole time? That means our guy looked like he was just talking to himself? Lol
