I think is more like she is worry about how the world will treat his son because in their culture it isn't very accepting. They will face discriminating and she is worry that will hurt his son. Not that the guy won't treat him well.
homophobia in the world but id also be worried about my kids dating men at all (i love men, plenty of good ones but also plenty of bad ones)
