My theory is that the government was using the schools lab for hidden research and the ML thinks hes to blame for being in proximity to the lab and probably messed up so.e equipment.
He obviously feel guilty about something, i think the government caught wind of the research fail and biohazard and erected the wall to hide what they were doing and hoping everyone wohld die off. That or they purposely used the university for an experiment of a bioweapon which is more likely given the military they saw were to kill survivers than save them. Either way the MC is incredibly important
Yeah that is way better than my theorie and sadly more realistic
Yours is just as possible, because unless they reveal some sort of supernatural event to explain the MLs regression a simulation makes more sense. My explanation only works if the supernatural part is real. We will find out soon of we are both right based on the governments reaction to survivors.
