Yeah I never liked him and yeah his reasoning for killing the king was dumb. Like he killed yo dad bc he killed his beloved wife (and your aunt dude) and maybe bc of the various massacres he did, making ennemies with everyone around kouna, causing the country to crumble
Imo if the country was such in a shit state was because of soowon's dad, he made ennemies with everyone and, well, they fought back (shocker)
Also the excuse of "we had to break yona to make her a great rule" what bullshit. She almost died so many times. She could've grown in so many ways
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t want Soowon to be redeemed or anything like that. I like the complicated feeling he’s gives other characters. He’s so multifaceted to so many different people.
For the kingdom of kouka he’s probably like a savior to them, for the surrounding kingdoms, he’s the son of the devil and he probably would’ve still viewed like that if Yona didn’t intervene. He seems pretty heartless in a sense that he doesn’t have much empathy for people and he views them as chess pieces
For our main characters, he betrayed them but they can’t seem to hate him fully and they try to understand from his point of view.
Personally, I really dislike his reason for killing the king, bro was getting revenge on a revenge and besides that his father deserved to die a thousand times, the victims in this were his mother and their family. The priests too
