I’d suggest googling the definition coercion. Considering something like this to be coercion is just avoiding taking personal responsibility. If the guy is too shy to express himself or say no, that’s kind of on him. People can’t read mind. In this scenario he’s clearly a willing participant albeit reluctant due to jealousy over his friend.
Coercion by definition includes the use of threats or force.
“If you don’t sleep with me/us, I will break up with you”
“If you don’t do this for me, I’ll do it with someone else” etc
Coercion is a lot more sinister than just making a suggestion and telling someone to try it to learn more about themselves/ explore their options.
That’s why I said, in this case he can just say no and he’d be fine. Everything would still be the same. He’s not being forced, coerced, or pressured into it :)
He can simply say no if he didn’t want to and there would be no negative consequences.
