I get why you would blame him for having such friends. But you can't just blame him because of their actions. He's not expecting all of this talk about his ex, too. What I see the fault in here is, if he really was bonded to that ex of his, he should've opened up about this to Lyle before already. Especially knowing the personality of Lyle where he keeps things all bottled up. They have to adjust to each other if they want to be together. Lyle too, needs to be confident and speak his heart out and not wait until everything bursts out. I know this is a littlejavascript:; hard for him given his personality, but he needs to change or improve, too. Of course, this is just my PERSONAL opinion. LOL. Ash and Lyle may be trying to avoid confronting one another as of the moment since there are other people, but I hope they talk it all out soon before something bad happens.
