It just clicked to me that Jihan kinda sees his ex in Jinyeong and he sees his old self in Heeseop (as he stated in that certain chapter), that's why deep inside he appreciates his efforts and while spending time together he kinds of feel that he's someone who doesn't deserve to experience what his ex did to him and what he did to other people (his ex fuck buddies).
