she was innocent and he wasn’t obsessed with her. he was in love with her and gave up his life for her. she tried multiple times to stop him from killing and tried to shape him as a better person. she allowed him to kill only when it was necessary for their survival. they both wanted each other to live and they both laid down their lives for each other. her background showed why she “hated” humans, but in reality she was just heartbroken and angry at the world and herself.

I was obviously just pointing out an aspect of the story if it was included in the story then people are allowed to criticize whatever they want. He obviously wasn’t 100% in love with her the idea of her was what he loved because she looked like his mother. You obviously didn’t analyze the story as much as you thought you did. People can have different interpretations of the story and you shouldn’t be rude about it. yea the whole Mum look-alike thing was a bit meh BUT i can also see the purpose of that, i saw the purpose of the romance, its one of the vital step to understanding being a human - he experienced familial relationship through his Mum, friendship through the girls, and romantic feelings through Leesu, i think all of these were very important step for him to truly grasp what it really is he wants, the contradiction, the regret, the conflicting belief, as soon as he started experiencing these things he's taken a good chunk of step towards humanity - idk if i remember it right but one of the first thing he was was a plankton? (i think, or maybe he just mentioned it) either way a plankton's "life" and "purpose" is pretty straight forward right, and then the more he reincarnates the more "advanced" the living being he becomes until it got to the biggest hurdle which is being a human and then eventually after living all these life, understanding each life, learning the complex connection of each being, he becomes earth/mother nature (or realizes that he's everything living this whole time)
but yah i think the ending is more like him realizing that this whole time he was "life" or "the world" itself?
