Nah nah the friend apologized to the ML about how all his contacts got deleted so I'm assuming his parents also cut off his phone therefore the ML wouldn't be able to reach out to check on his friend after he left for uni.
so he just forgot about his friend for more than two years and didn't even check to see if he was still alive or if there was a possibility that he woke up
