Is the translation really that bad? Because I read it now several times. It was his first rut, not the one with Josh. Grayson tells Josh about it in volume 3, when they run into each other in the hospital where Josh wants to pic up the medicine for Chase.

Chase actually remembers that the dog was present and believed the bullshit Grayson told him. And Grayson is now using it to "help" Chase. One of Graysons biggest flaws is, that when he tries to help someone, he does what he himself think will help, which often is more harm- than helpful. What is really conflicting about it, is that Grayson really thinks that it helps, so there is no mailice behind it.
