This is a perfect example that sometimes we don't need to fully know a character's background or motives to form an opinion on why he's like this. In this case, his obsession, yearning, neurotic and controling behavior is enough. He just wants that man in every form. If he wasn't that crazy, and if their interactions were consensual, it could be endearing, even poetic. We still don't know what's in the box he kept near him in early chapters but seems important for the plot and their past. But either one dies, both or they go crazy together.

I’m very curious about the box, but I have a bad feeling like maybe it’s his daughter’s head that is inside the box T_T

How old was the daughter? It was kind of a small box. Maybe a hand, a heart... something awful either way. But he's so crazy that I expect anything, could be a sweet memento or a kid's heart.
