Glenn is willing to be honest and vulnerable to express his affection for Ed, because he sees the way their relationship can change him for the better. Chang is the opposite—he’s too afraid to be vulnerable about his feelings towards Ed, because he thinks it makes him weak and that makes him uncomfortable. He tiptoes the line between hate and love because he regularly confuses what he even wants for himself in the first place. He’s willing to put Ed in debt because he wants to distance himself from Ed emotionally, while being unable to let him go properly. Glenn meanwhile, helps Ed free himself from those chains.
