Pretty sure he isn't actually white. He was using some kind of pendant at the time, but when mL actually gets rid of his curse he's still dark skinned at the end. It mightve been like an illusionary pendant I'm not rlly sure tbh since I don't speak korean

I read it in Spanish (my native language) and as far as I understood the pendant did show his true self temporarily.

At the end, the curse took so long to break that it changed his physical appearance permanently.
