Reread chapter 2 hun. He spelled it out pretty clear right from the beginning.

I think they meant how he found out about it or smt. Like what happend that he thinks that it's his jinx (so that maybe it's actually not real later on)

That’s fair. I think he’s just nuts. That would be an interesting flashback.
