I made a whole presentation on this for my capstone. There are also Nepali movies about this and how it messes up the girls who become Kumari, because after they get their period, they have to assimilate back into normal life. As long as they are kumari, they can't even step foot on the ground and have to be carried around everywhere. This pratha has always infuriated me because it puts a girl on a pedestal and takes away her everything just as quickly. Kids don't get to be kids and suddenly they are "of age" and have missed out on childhood. I am Nepali so I def will put this on my to be read list.
